I would also check on award availability for the dates you have in mind - PH Tokyo usually has good availability. PH Kyoto can be a lot more tough if you're trying for an award.
Echoing- PK Kyoto still has availability in October, but not much in November for some reason. Glad I booked both Tokyo and Kyoto a couple months back. I'd make the reservation asap if you know your dates.
