I think within Asia properties are way more liberal with upgrades and benefits in general.
IT issues definitely still exist. There is a difference between continuing to voice what you know won't be changed vs having a working product.
Marriott's service quality is definitely better in Asia. Even then, I've noticed only a couple of places in Asia where they treat you really well if you aren't living out of your suitcase.
I am just thankful I travel to places where there are a lot of choices outside of Marriot to consider too.
