Irrespective of chain and relevant branded credit card, especially in the US but also elsewhere, bring the applicable credit card just in case. Or, unfortunately, one may not earn all relevant points and nights.

I've also been affected on the Hilton side where not all FDA (front desk agents) necessarily have a clue and still insist on a card to at least see if not swipe.
