With NK often offering $29-$49 walk-up fares, plus the uncertainy of DH’s and US’s future, I wonder how long this competition will last

The fares are too high? Ye Gods! I've flown K or T class between Detroit and DC on NW (I go to school at Georgetown U., live in Detroit) a good 4 times since Spirit entered the market, and I paid $138.20 each time. I even got a ticket for Thanksgiving!!! at that price. Heck, I just bought a one way ticket PIT-IAD (I'm taking the train there) only 9 days in advance for $58 all in. On numerous days that I've checked, *every* fare between DC and Detroit on NW is matched to the NK price. My wallet is telling me that the prices are sure as heck lower.
