In 2020, if a 25K flew 30,000 AQM with $3,000 AQD, and held a qualifying premium Aeroplan credit card, the card benefits would roll the 'excess' AQM above their status threshold - in this case 5,000 - into 2021 qualifying. They would start 2021 with 5,000 AQM / 0 AQD.
In 2021, if a 25K flies 30,000 AQM with $3,000 AQD, and DOESN'T hold a premium credit card, the status-extension promo will roll all their AQM/AQD into 2022 qualifying. They would start 2022 with 30,000 AQM and 3,000 AQD.

Make sense?
