I recently booked a AAVacation, my first one, as I wanted to take advantage of the $400 AAvacation credit in my wallet. I was able to pay for the entire vacation (~$2,600 including the $400 credit) with miles. The agent on the phone answered my question very confidently that I my wife and I would still earn all the normal EQMs and EQDs for the trip. The miles are converted to money to pay for the trip, as opposed to a milage award ticket. We'll see if receiving normal EQMs and EQDs is actually true when we take this trip in August.

Interestingly, miles were deducted from both my account and my wife's account to create the "money" to pay for the trip. While the agent didn't advise me of that, I did not mind as we both have lots of miles.
