Since the Fairmont is right next door to the Conrad, it's inevitable that the two would be compared. I will probably try the Fairmont again in about 6-12 months to see how they've improved on the service end but it was quite disappointing. Had high expectations from a new build with the Fairmont name and while the service issues were fully expected, the hardware was disappointing.
I suspect my opinion will align far more with yours rather than the reviewer above. (1) Better lounge at Fairmont, as it should be since we'll need to pay for it unlike Conrad. (2) Room/hardware inferior at Fairmont which is not what I originally expected. (3) And service too early to comment. Conrad service is good but not impossible for Fairmont to exceed, at some point in the future.
