I am a fan of Conrad next door and I am looking forward to stay at Fairmont to compare.
Service problems are very common for new hotels, this one has barely been open for one month so I find the criticism quite harsh given the circumstances. Whatever bad experiences the OP had, it will for sure not prevent me from trying this Fairmont once it's been open for 12+ months unless I am still reading such comments next year. Quite the contrary, if something was to keep me away from Fairmont, surprisingly it would be the hardware which is the one thing that the reviewer did like. The hardware at Conrad is stellar and while I have not seen Fairmont from a close-up view it seems even the brand new Fairmont falls short of the older Conrad - the opposite of what I would have expected.
Whenever I stay in a new hotel, I almost always give them a pass regarding service... to a point. I guess that point was exceeded for the OP, but I am still not convinced it's a reason to not give the hotel a chance if I go there in 2022.
