I joined Kiva in 2010 when my son opened an account for me as a birthday present. I have enjoyed "playing" with Kiva regularly since then. Every time I have a $25 balance in the account, I re-lend. Unfortunately, the original amount has lost 1/3 of its value. When it drops to 50%, I'll add my own money to bump it up to its original value.
It makes me think I did something right as a parent due to some of my son's imaginative and caring gifts. I even "own" a stretch of water pipe somewhere in Africa due to another one of his contributions.
