Not the most luxurious (though perfectly nice) but the Marriott in Mulu on the island of Borneo (on the Malaysian side in Sarawak) is definitely one of the exotic and unusual locations... Only way to get there is to fly to the nearby Mulu airport and supplies for the hotel are brought in on the river. Cool spot (and only a Category 2!) within the very interesting Gunung Mulu National Park and definitely worth a visit for a couple days if you find yourself in this part of the world.
