It’s not. The whole purpose of compensation is to enforce the elite guarantee. The customer has the option between breakfast or points. If there’s no option, you should get the compensation. It’s not the hotel’s choice but the guests choice. Breakfast standards are so weak I don’t feel bad for any property that cannot throw a piece of fruit, a muffin in a bag and hand you a coffee.
