October Elevated Status Match Confusion

Hi all - my first post on this site and am pretty frustrated with Delta so wanted to see if anyone else had the same issues. I received an email on 10/19 with my SKYMILES and my EMAIL with the below challenge. I registered and sent my UNITED Platinum Status to Delta and I received Platinum within days. I called as per the email I should have gotten Diamond and the rep kept me on hold for while and finally came back and said there was confusion how the email read.... it should have read "could get" not "you'll receive" - I was fine, did not matter. But he said I was registered for the promo. I starting mapping out my travel (what little I was doing) so could ensure I get 4 roundtrips in the timeframe.

Delta’s elevated status match challenge

If eligible, you’ll receive complimentary Medallion status one tier higher than your current status, up to Diamond, through March 31, 2021. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to extend that status through Jan. 31, 2022 by completing the following flight requirements during the trial period:
  • If you receive Gold Medallion status: Fly 2 qualifying round-trips or 4 one-ways
  • If you receive Platinum Medallion status: Fly 4 qualifying round-trips or 8 one-ways
  • If you receive Diamond Medallion status: Fly 6 qualifying round-trips or 12 one-ways

Fast forward, February 2021 came along and my status dropped back to member. I emailed and called and within days it was moved it back to Platinum. The agent said when I called "there are so many offers right now its hard to keep them straight". As of yesterday, I just completed my 4 roundtrips and I noticed that my virtual card said it expired in mid-May. When I called they are now telling my I am on a new match where I have to spend $2800?? To give you an idea I spent about $1,200 for 4 flights - huge difference and I now need to do it between February and May 2021?!?

I really do not know what happened.... looking back you usually receive a confirmation email when you register for these offers. Never got that - just the change in status from member to platinum and the rep confirmed back in November I was registered. The person I spoke to at the WECARE desk said I was never registered in October and this was very targeted and gave me 20,000 miles for compensation for confusion. I asked for someone in loyalty to call/email me... nothing - just silence now. I have sent them the email with my SKYMILES number / Name and shows sent to my email address.

I dont care about the miles just the status ---- so frustrated as I could have done the AA challenge way back but now I do not have as much travel. Appreciate anyones advise and/or if similar has happened to them.
