I was in an Embassy Suites last week that had severely abbreviated pool hours, and a list of pool closure periods for “disinfection”. One morning, the pool was closed for an additional length of time. I asked if the closure was related to disinfection, etc. and the front desk agent said “budget cuts. No staff here to maintain”. I was in the pool as one of the disinfect periods came to pass and no staff ever appeared to shut the pool for cleaning. This was on a Friday going into a weekend when the hotel was sold out.
On-demand housekeeping will linger. Smaller breakfast services will hang around, too. Lower room rates will slowly crawl back to normal (most are there already).
To be fair the service in general sucks in the US. My hope is that the international Hiltons keep the same level of service that I'm used to once borders reopen. They really do put US properties to shame.
Hell even the Conrad in Istanbul is doing a full breakfast buffet (with people serving you) and the lounge is open with some food and drinks.
