I purchased a P-fare to HND a while back for a flight during the Olympics as part of a joint-marketing operation. Things were cleared at the time for foreign inbound travel if it was officially associated with the Olympics. The recent decisions by Japan cancelled the marketing opportunity and left me in the lurch with a 6.5K paid ticket.

What is the best way for me to cancel so that I don't lose any value? I am worried about losing value as a FFC if I were to use it to purchase a cheaper flight later. I don't need the money back because I am doing lots of flying on UA, I just don't want to lose anything when I use the credit for future flight(s).
