Anything charged to the room will be covered. If you think you won't use the credit may as well treat yourself to a nice meal or two or cocktails at the pool. Not sure if they have any stores in the casino that allow room charges but if they do that's another good way to use the credit.
Yes, sometimes restaurants are not "part" of a hotel but that's usually not the norm. I do like the idea of a bird in the hand because who knows if we'll get to our planned resort later this year - if the past year has taught us anything it's that there are no guarantees about anything.
