thanks for the responses... yeah, it looks like this booking was for O which was one of the lower fare classes in Economy. I could've sworn that seat selection was free all across the board before this.

Also, should I pay and book my seat or not really bother with it, as someone said there is a very high likelihood if I check in early I could get my seat anyway.
