No need to dread. MSP-ATL-HNL, with even more time in Delta One on ATL-HNL.

Or JFK-LAX-HNL. With Hawaii about to open up without quarantine for vaccinated travelers, LAX-HNL on a wide body (read: lie-flat) aircraft should be back very soon.

There aren’t weather issues in August. With a few seconds of work, you can check the day prior to departure to find out where your incoming aircraft is coming from. Then verify that it landed at JFK. Delays won’t occur in the air but rather you’ll know by scheduled departure time, and can easily keep or extend your time on lie flats.
