Subsequent to ticketing, AA changed the flights so they now connect through DFW on the outbound flight, as AA no longer offers any daytime non-stop on their planned outbound date, only a redeye, which they are not interested in.
I'd like to rebook them for new dates later in May, when AA resumes the day-time non-stop, but it appears AA has zeroed-out all of the discounted business class fares on the later days and is only offering them in full J class, which would triple their fare to around $3000.
So my question is whether I can expect AA to put them into a non-stop on a new date in later May or early June, when they paid for D tickets and AA is only offering tickets in J.
Any advice?
Thanks!
JK
In my experience, when AA has rebooked us on a different and less-desirable flight such a connecting when initially booked direct, assuming there is inventory in the class we booked, they'll allow us to switch our flights. That said, with all of the schedule swapping going on in the COVID era, your parents may unfortunately be stuck on their new itinerary.
Give AA a call and see what they can do. If nothing works out, wait a few days and try calling back. EWR is having the same issue with PHX specifically / no longer being direct, so know that this is a system-wide "thing" if you will. Also, there may be direct inventory that frees up at a later time, so I'd advise utilizing ExpertFlyer if you haven't yet to keep an eye on the direct-flight situation. It should prove to be helpful!
