I renewed my OCI with VFS New York earlier this year. It went fine, although it took 6 weeks which I think is just too long for a relatively simple process. Simply acknowledging receipt of my application took VFS more than 3 weeks. In my case at least they sent me timely e-mail updates for significant changes (e.g., "document printed"). But I have heard many complain that months can go by without a status update, or that VFS rejects documents for minor "problems" with their interpretation of the rules and then doesn't clearly explain how to fix the problems. YMMV.
Ugh! I am putting together the documents for my Renunciation to be sent once I get my documents back from USCIS and I think I have everything covered. Unfortunately, everything is via mail now and one can't even go in person to get this thing sorted out once and for all.as I did previously with my spouse and child.
