Nobody has a crystal ball. The 1 hour connection will probably work, but the 3 hour connection is safer and significantly less stressful. I would chose the latter unless the earlier flight created a real inconvenience for me.

In either case, the flight schedule for August is very likely to change between now and then anyway...
