Holiday Inn Leiden, Netherlands, in 1968 opened as a regular L-shaped 3-floors exterior corridor motel and as Europe's first Holiday Inn. In the early eighties a huge Holidome-style atrium was added along with congress facilities. From then until very recently the hotel was tremendously popular with family-parties because of their weekend dinner-buffets. Even after the turn of the century such dinners were still called Holidome Family Buffets. But the hotel has been closed for months now because of Covid-19 and most of the staff were fired. It appears to be turned into a lodgement-facility for foreign (Eastern European) workers.
