C level officers see only in terms of quantifiable data. It has become part of the Excel spreadsheet mentality. One can easily put costs savings into an Excel document. But just assigning a value to "productivity, team work, culture?"

Companies love to talk on and on about terms such as "productivity, team work, and culture" but rarely do they put their money where their mouth is. Because talk is cheap.

I see it already with clients that don't want to pay for travel. Even though technology deployment (what I do) is complicated as hell the C level believes there's NO DIFFERENCE between a Zoom call and in person session. Because you can't quantify it.

I even get people calling me for a Technology Administrator job and it's always remote. I get it they're able to expand their candidate pool. But I'll ask "after COVID do you plan on me being on site from time to time." You'd think I was asking them if they have a first class only travel policy. I decline any further discussion at that point.

This is the future. Some companies might pick up on that despite Zoom/Facebook generation claims something significant is lost on a Zoom call but I fully expect most companies won't give a crap and will tell people to "make it work." I'm just glad I've got 8 years to retirement.
