Hotels engaging in the green-washing of their cost-cutting measures has been followed by hotels engaging in health-washing their cost-cutting measures. Maybe Andaz can say they don't want to encourage snacking since they think its healthier that people only eat proper meals at fixed meal times and just eliminate the "included minibar" aspect of Andaz stays.
I stayed there a bunch of times too and had a very different experience. The hotel actually learned what snacks I liked and went out of their way to have them specially stocked in my room when I showed up. To me, my slight disappointment, was that I could never get a great upgrade there but that was minor since they treated me great otherwise.
