As an aside, my friend regularly flies Aeroflot through SVO because the fares are about $50 cheaper than on the Western carriers, but I think that is a false economy. If you are unlucky you can be waiting for 3 hours
to get through passport control at SVO, in a cramped airless area where you have to stand on a staircase in a chaotic line to reach the passport booths.

Agreed. There are few worse things than reaching the top of the airbridge only to find that the 777 two gates away has just discharged a full load of (mainly non-Russian) passengers into the immigration corridor...
