1) Independent hotels or hotel programs with no loyalty program
2) Fine Hotels and Resorts or Amex Collection
Often times Fine Hotels and Resorts benefits are equivalent or better than mid tier status at the property, plus you get Fine Hotels and Resorts benefits, plus you can often earn loyalty points on the stay
