Pre-COVID, didn't AC run twice daily YVR-LHR and YYC had AC and BA running to LHR? I'd say demand is there and they had originally requested 56 weekly slots (or 4 daily) for this Summer. If they were offered half, one would assume they'd choose their two largest hubs, which they already run year-round flights to LON? But maybe in a COVID world they see more opportunity in the west? Or maybe this is just as simple as the timings of the slots work better for Western Canada departures?
Either way, I guess this is all speculation for now.
