One of the most interesting views of the Space Needle IMO is the one from the observation deck off the Chinese Room (now Observatory Bar) at the top of the Smith Tower. Of course, being at the south end of downtown, it's nowhere close to the Space Needle, but the view from the Smith Tower involves a "terminating vista," in which a landmark blocks an otherwise unlimited view, in this case the First Avenue corridor. With a longish lens (or plenty of megapixels so you can enlarge the image) you can get a very interesting shot, like these:
