I absolutely do not mean to burst your bubble, but I think sometimes an AmEx chat or phone representative will simply confirm the bonus that’s attached to the exact type of card and/or account, not YOUR eligibility for said bonus. Several times AmEx phone agents have told me that I’ll receive a bonus and then after meeting the requirements the bonus was NOT posted. Each time I contacted AmEx a bunch of times by email and phone, twice I sent registered letters to the AmEx CEO. A couple of times I finally received the bonus after the Executive Resolution Team got involved and a couple of times I never received the bonus. You gotta watch AmEx like a hawk.
