Havent flown AA J in quite sometime long haul, 2021 has been mostly EK and KLM internationally (though due to DL's deplorable domestic F service I have been doing all AA F domestically). Im heading back to AKL (I have a visa and a spot in MIQ) via SYD in April due to AA having the most reasonable fares (roundtrip in J through my company under 4.5k which is great). I see on March 26th it changes from 77W-->787 which actually to me is a plus.

My other option is to fly LAX-SIN-AKL which I would only do if getting booted or cancelled into SYD is a real concern. For the experts here, do you think I need to be concerned about being booted off or cancelled a few days before? I believe they are still capping US-SYD flights at 50 pax and right now my aircraft has 4 people on it, so my concern is more a directive from AU government/low loads. I read that the AU gov wouldnt advise until 48 hours out and with my MIQ slot being so hard to come by, I cannot risk missing my SYD-AKL connection on QF.

Thanks for your time,
I would go via SIN as important as this trip is for you. Australia is basically a cluster when it comes to international flights. Even OZ/NZ come and go on whims.
