Don't think recording is necessary as IB have been offering refunds upon request due to schedule changes and even if you make a recording, what can you really doing with it?

I got zero push back with IB concerning a refund last April. The only challenge I faced was because it was only the return leg which was unflown, the refund amount was incorrect. That was solved after an email exchange linking IB US/Canada tariff concerning involuntary refund on partially flown round trips.
