The Protea should work. I don't know if you will feel comfortable striking out from there on foot to the Falls but maybe vitaminJ can opine on that. If you want to be closer to the Falls, save the Marriott points for a different trip and perhaps consider Avani at the Falls on the Zambia side or Ilala on the Zimbabwe side.
If the in and out airline is Kenya Airways, it may be easier to deal with schedule changes.

The Avani's sister property, the Royal Livingston, looks great. Are they on the same grounds or would the Avani be much more conveniently located to the falls?
