On the 787, to avoid galley noise, pick a seat mid cabin. However, keep in mind Row5 on the 789 has one missing window.
On the 320, there are a few FINs that have a cut out in the foot area on the first row. Not sure which FINs they were, and they might have been retired already. Bottomline, there is no guarantee, so I personally actively avoid the first row on the airbus. I will being able to stretch my feet, or put my small bag underneath the seat in front of me. On the narrowbodies, my go-to seats in J would be the last row. Minimizes galley noise, and don't have to worry about reclining your seats.
