The ‘let us herd you through a series of fences and gates like cattle to the slaughter’ immigration control approach at major US airports IMO makes an international non-stop often easier to figure out than a strictly domestic routing that connected through a less organized airport like JFK.

Boston isn’t as nicely laid out as DFW or ATL but it’s not too hard to make your way landside to ground transportation once you get there.
