With no checked bags there is no problems walking through immigration in HKG.
Be kind enough to let the ground staff know as they will be calling for you upon re-boarding.....
With checked baggage you would need to persuade the check-in staff at BKK to let you check them to HKG only very doubtfull IMHO.
Why do you not route your ticket with a stopover in HKG using that flight, then a later HKG-TPE flight that you then will not use ?
