Doesn't seem to have been any discussion, but anyone have any experience using Amex Send & Split?

The split piece, at least, seems like a convenient way to share expenses, with the funds going directly as a credit against your account vs. having them go into Venmo/Paypal and needing to transfer them into a checking account to then pay the bill.
However, implementation seems a bit clunky based on my first use of this feature today.
It doesn't connect directly to your Venmo contacts, only your phone contacts, so you have to choose what you think is the right cell phone number, and the payment request then somehow went to my friend as an email, not an alert from within Venmo (or as a text).
It lets you adjust the "pending" (pre-gratuity) charge amount before "splitting" the total, but only by pre-determined % gratuity amounts (e.g., 10%, 15%, 20%). If you add a $20 tip to the bill, then you have to enter the new total, which you have to sum up yourself.
And there's no easy way to adjust the split amounts other than 50/50 (or presumably 33/33/33 if you enter 2 contacts), or typing in an amount manually. You should be able to do, say, 33%/67%. Or at least there should be a calculator integrated.
Anyway, just my initial thoughts from my first attempt at this. Not sure whether I'll use it again or just go straight to Venmo to send payment requests.
