My parents experienced the problems when transitting in LHR. On Feb 1st, they flew from CDG-LHR-ORD-CLE. While in LHR, their bags did not make the LHR-ORD flight despite having a 3 hour connection. My dad said that many flights were cancelled the previous day and I could only imagine how many stranded bags there were to deal with.

On the bright side, the BA baggage agent in ORD (Sue) was great in helping us make sure our bags got to us ASAP. I mentioned my parent's status and that they were traveling in F so I am not sure if that helped or not. The bags made the LHR-ORD the next day, and Sue made sure it was on the first AA flight out to them. A great job given so many stranded bags!
