Probably just not a good economical decision for them. Their in-house restaurant (OneUp) doesn't really get that much traffic. I've only eaten there once, and it was at a tech conference with someone else covering the bill.

When I used to travel to SF for work, I would occasionally grab a drink there, but when I did it, would be pretty empty -- except during tech conference weeks.

The staff there is actually pretty great. The GM always reached out to provide upgrades ahead of time, and the Grand Club staff (when that was a thing) was super attentive and nice. But they're in a rough place right now. The clientele there is/was primarily business travelers or well-heeled SF shoppers, most of whom are on expense accounts or otherwise in the market for more high end dining experiences. And they don't often dine there -- unless they're entertaining clients/friends at the Club (which is now closed).

I don't blame them for not re-opening the restaurant -- as much as I want to milk the Globalist breakfast benefit. But they also don't have an in-between alternative between the crappy downstairs kiosk and the full service restaurant.
