Yes, OP booked with points initially, regretted it (probably because they knew they had an award with a "fixed" expiry date) and then tried to apply the award for one of the nights rather than using 30k points.
This is I think a pretty common request when people book something far out into the future and then end up receiving an award sometime between the time of original booking (with points) and their stay.
