Marriott LIES about the "Guaranteed 4 pm late checkout".

I stayed at TownePlace Suites Jackson Ridgeland/The Township at Colony Park the night of February 23 and departed February 24.

I explained my personal situation, that I had flown from Texas to Mississippi to transport my 87-year-old post-Covid mother from a Rehabilitation Center to a Nursing Home in a certain time frame and that I could not be back to the hotel until at least 2 pm.

I requested 4 pm checkout. They refused, and offered 12 pm. I asked them to look at my account and verify that they could see that I am Platinum and that Marriott states:
4 p.m. Late Checkout
Guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, subject to availability at resort and convention hotels.

The front desk person looked at my booking and then said they could do 12:30 pm at the latest, because the hotel was fully booked. This was neither a resort nor a convention hotel.

I called Sherry at Marriott Platinum Elite Care (800) 228-2100 and she said Marriott does not guarantee late checkout, I have no recourse and there is no compensation.

As a Hilton Diamond Elite I know I have to ask each property about late checkout. Up until February 24, 2021, Marriott had always honored its guaranteed late checkout for me, in Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Caribbean, South and North America.

Marriott has not given me a complimentary upgrade in years.

It is hard to compare hotel chains when hotels lie and deny published benefits.
