The idea behind promo is for you to eat when not staying at a property which I do several times a week for meetings etc when I'm in my home city.

However, I believe if you are staying at a hotel and pay for the meal w a credit card / cash at the mealtime, you will get triple points too. It is a loophole. Waitresses have told me it is ok. My guess is it is a YMMV if hotels allow it but the points are credited to your acct in minutes. I doubt they'll claw them back
