As somebody who has been mainly following this thread and the topic overall from the sidelines, just waiting to be able to earn BAEC TPs (TP = tier point, for those not familiar with the BA lingo) with AS as well, I must say Mwenenzi is probably right when it comes to AS MVP member benefits. At no point have I expected reciprocal domestic F upgrades with AA. OW membership isn't really something that as per say has to mean radical changes. If you look at AT (Royal Air Maroc for the IATA illiterate), it's pretty much business as usual. If anything, being outside any JV is more of a factor from a FFP standpoint.

I'm waiting to see how AS as a part of OW will shape the future of North America fares from Europe and Asia. It also affects how we FFP afficionados will travel in premium cabins. Right now there's limited acceptance of AS segments in the fare rules, so I'm yet to do a status hoarding run with AS segments (well, I had some limited hoarding booked as intra-Alaska for 2021). But would be more than happy to fly more AS in the future. If anything, I've been following the situation with curiosity, since I'm open to AS MVP becoming a new alternative for me as the OW FFP to primarily pursuit.

Since my trip to AK (yes, that AK, not AS) in June-July has now been cancelled (I doubt I will be allowed to enter and I can't keep waiting for finalising arrangements), my reciprocal experiences as another OW FFP statusholder will have to wait. I have one meager AS flight booked in the Lower 48 for fall (SFO-LAX), but my proper AS stints are now postponed until 2022. Then I can write how Oneworld Emerald recognition works at OME, FAI and so forth.

Edit: Yay, 1000th spam on FT by me!
