We did get upgraded to the Kai suite which is huge and has amazing views of diamond head from the bedroom and living room. We originally booked a king oceanfront and have Titanium status. Breakfast is now served at Rum fire and you have a choice of continental, eggs/sausage, French toast, or omelette. Portion sizes are huuuge. Keep in mind there are extra person charges of 120pp/ni even for the kids. Everyone is supposed to be a registered guest with negative Covid test and they give you a wrist band that acts as your room key and gets you in the garage if you park. Lounge was closed at the time so hopefully it will open back up soon. We felt safe at the hotel as most people wore masks. Walking around Waikiki you will see some folks not wear masks but majority do. There was definitely more people there over the weekend as there were times when there was a long line for elevators. It does move quick though as there are 10. Pools require reservations in 2 hrs increments unless you book paid loungers or cabanas. I highly recommend booking at least for a day or two as this gives you much more flexibility.
The best thing about the Sheraton vs RH is the views. If you get a high floor with diamond head views, it can’t be beat. We also prefer clean/new/modern over rustic charm so Sheraton was best for us. There are daily activities you can reserve like hula lessons, koi feeding, lei making that your kids may enjoy. They also have yoga every morning at the RH lawn. Also there are laundry rooms on 2 floors which you can reserve but it costs $5 for wash and $5 for dryer plus detergent so we didn’t use it but may be useful for families.
We had such a great time that we will be returning in April. Another tip is book a refundable rate earlier rather than later as rates do go up. From what I’ve seen it already has for April from when we booked.
