Currently, you walk down the long corridor from the gates down to the arrivals hall. Just before the visa counter & immigrations checkpoint your turn into the corridor on the right. After a short distance you walk up one flight of stairs (or take the elevator) to reach the KQ/KL C lounge and the adjacent international Y transit lounge. The new Simba lounge will be on the same level as immigrations, hence no stairs / elevator.
I never said the stairs were an inconvenience, I always use them without suffering any hardships, but I do see plenty of others waiting for the elevator with their numerous carry-ons!
The African interpretation of "one piece of cabin luggage" seems to include the following :
- one bag not exceeding the official size and weight limits.
- One additional large, multi-colored PVC laundry bag, containing enough clothing for a fortnight or so. Alternatively, an even larger pre-owned PVC mieliebag, well worn and patched, may be used.
- One or two plastic carrier bags, containing enough food to feed an extended family at least three filling meals.
- Several 10-liter plastic buckets with lid, containing unidentified but colorful liquids.
- One or more duty free bags.
- Assorted "small" items that could not be squeezed into any of the aforementioned bags or containers.
