I checked the documentation for my CSR before going on a shopping spree and the baggage delay insurance is capped at $100/day. Viable for getting a set of clothes but $100 won't take you far in a resort area, skiing gear is already pricey before you add the "captive audience" tax. UA didn't offer me anything and as far as I can tell they are not
required to unless your bag is straight-up lost. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Also - try calling the 1k like when you are standing in line for the receptionist. Usually you’ll get a hold of them faster than making the front of the line.
I did contemplate doing that as I was getting rather impatient waiting. In the end I spent the time researching other options, including the AA flight I took.

How do they know what the carrier offered? Do they have a table of the data from all the major airlines? Genuinely curious as I intend to submit it either way.
