Or the cleaning staff capacity was purposely reduced due to low occupancy rates. I just checked in to a HR and despite a suite being available to book, I was put into a Queen and got about 4 different excuses. One was "there's only one girl" to clean rooms- in a 167 room hotel so they weren't cleaning rooms right after checkout if it wasn't needed. Another one was that another Globalist was arriving tomorrow for a longer stay, which I didn't really understand, unless it's some sort of return customer VIP. It's subject to availability at check-in, and I'm checking in.
In the end the room was being "aired out" most likely because someone had a party in it. I said I'd wait for an hour, check it out, and if the smell was too bad, take the Queen room they had. It was fine, and it's a pretty great suite, worth the wait.
But these places are running on skeleton crews. The HR I'm in has decided to shut down the restaurant & gift shop, so there's not really any food to be had. 500pts/nt to compensate for the loss of Globalist breakfast benefit doesn't really cut it.
