I had to take a look at where the hotel is. I worked in downtown Greenville in the early 90's in a building that used to be a JC Penney (still had the escalator in the middle of the building but you couldn't use it) and there was a Woolworth's with a lunch counter across the street. Downtown was really just coming to life at that point with the Peace Center having recently been opened. It's amazing to me that all these hotels are now downtown because back then you couldn't get anyone to stay there.
