Having stayed at a number of these hotels I largely agree with it . The reason why aman is rated lower is that it’s relatively expensive compared to the palace hotel next door ( which is nicer without the brand name ) double in fact .
The Palace is "just" a really nice, beautiful looking hotel. But Aman Tokyo has, for lack of a better term, the "it" factor. It really feels like a special experience that cannot be duplicated. I will never experience anything else like the Aman Tokyo pool at night. That was just a one-of-a-kind amazing experience that still blows my mind to this day.
Palace Hotel is...really nice. But there's a lot of other hotels in Tokyo that are really nice too (like the Prince Gallery).
