Interestingly, I passed through the security area for a different airline at Los Angeles International Airport recently, and I was not required to remove my shoes, nor was I even asked.

The Transportation Security Administration personnel were friendly, cordial, professional, and treated me with respect.

It is absurd enough when shoe removal policies differ from airport to airport. However, it is completely absurd when shoe removal policies are inconsistent at the same airport.
