I used to do it, for the same reason - it was a convenient way of documenting undocumented expenses. Eventually our bean counter decided I was sufficiently trustworthy, so now I just put down "X pounds for beer - no receipt" and it gets reimbursed. NB: there is an important corolary here - I'm honest about it.
