My willingness to work outside is directly proportional to the beauty of the grounds, and all the properties make excellent Zoom backgrounds and are quiet enough to work without worrying about screeching human children. The birds, however . . .
I can’t argue with the RI in Merida either. Aside from the Haciendas I’ve been here since November and it’s a nice property with fantastic staff. My one quibble is that the breakfast items are *always* cold, but my love of chilaquiles for breakfast overrides any thermal concerns. Merida is amazing but it isn’t a typical sun and fun destination, and the beach (and beach dining) in Progresso is currently closed.
Just goes to show that COVID is a moving target... When I did a day trip to Progreso in December, walking along the beach, restaurant staff was begging me to hang out on the beach and have drinks and lunch and now it is closed! And I would say that anytime I approached one of the public areas at Santa Rosa in December, other than the front porch or for dinner/breakfast, I got the 'stink eye'. (And yes, I was wearing a mask.) While the staff was great, I just had the impression that they wanted guests to limit themselves to very defined areas. This did not take away from my experience, however (wrote a review on the Hacienda page).
